Fishing Reports

* Lake is at 898 feet and only 3 feet from full pool.

* **Lower Flow:** 650 cfs, water temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. Fishing has been fair to good. There are a lot of spring-run salmon in the low flow right now, which can be quite active and may push steelhead into different holding areas. These salmon are currently seeking refuge from the warmer water in the high flow and will continue to move in and hold over until they spawn in the fall. Most are staying in the deeper, slower water, leaving the faster, more oxygenated riffle areas for steelhead and shad. We’ve been hooking some decent steelhead in the low flow, and that should continue through the fall, leading into the egg bite season. There are also plenty of shad around in the low flow too. Dont forget hwy70 up closes July 16th.

* **High Flow:** 2500 cfs, fishing has been fair to good for both steelhead and shad. Water temperatures are a bit warmer, in the low to upper 60s. If you plan to fish the high flow, it’s best to fish early and try to finish by late afternoon when the water temperatures climb above 66/67 degrees, as the steelhead fishing tends to slow down then. Alternatively, you can switch to fishing for shad until dusk, which has been quite good. Keep in mind that the good shad fishing was observed at 1700 cfs, which is a bit easier to wade than the current 2500 cfs, but there are still some wadable spots to target them. If you have a boat, even better – anchor up and swing away!

* **Steelhead Flies:**

* Nymphs: Princes, caddis, mayflies, worms, eggs

* Swinging: Sculpin patterns, Lady Carolines, Euphories, etc.

* **Shad Flies:** Comets, Shad Crack, Wet Pinkies, Too Sexy, Bloody Maria, Lip Stick, Ronald McDonald
