Bryce Tedford: Fall fishing is wrapping up on the California Delta. We had some solid fishing this Fall; it’s fishing of course with some great days, many good days & a few really challenging days. Overall the Fall was a bit of a grind but guests with good attitudes made the the grind & season solid. We have been averaging around 10-15 fish a day with a good number of 3-6lb fish & the chance of 6-20lb+ fish many of the days. All in all it’s been a good season with great guests, good weather & decent fishing. Come latter December I will wrap up my 2024 season, recharge the batteries & my 2025 Spring, Summer & Fall season will be out come Jan! Hoping to close out the 2025 season strong, my very best to you & yours, Merry Christmas & Happy holidays! Look forward to seeing you for a Delta adventure come 2025, cheers!
DELTA REPORT 12/1/24
Bryce Tedford: Fall is finally beginning on the Sacramento & San Joaquin California Delta. It’s been a slow start with water temperatures hovering above 70 degrees. With recent 100 degree days & high water temperatures it’s been a mix of Topwater Largemouth & a slow transition to Stripers. That said, Fall has finally arrived & the cooler weather will turn our attention towards Stripers in the coming months. Fall should be a great time on the Delta with fish moving into the system to heavily forage on baitfish, crawfish, bluegill, pike minnow, baby bass, etc. We will be using 8-9wt rods, heavy sinking lines, 20-25lb leaders & large Clousers to weed out the quality fish. Fall season is a special time on the Delta for seasoned enthusiasts or anyone interested in the adventures of chasing Striper on a Fly. Fall is an amazing time to fish throughout Northern CA, get out there & enjoy this special time of year!
DELTA REPORT 10/19/24
Bryce Tedford: Fall season is approaching & with that comes an interesting fishing period on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta & many of our Northern CA fisheries. Kids are going back to school, summer is winding down & Fall is approaching but not quite here yet! Fall is a great time for Stripers on the Delta but September is a good time for multiple species on a fly rod!
September on the Delta is an interesting time of year as Smallmouth, Largemouth & Stripers are all on the table. The biggest challenge is what to focus on & which species to hunt. These three Bass species generally require different tactics, areas & focus. That said, this past week on the Delta we have found all 3 species & sometimes all 3 in the same day.
My October & November for Stripers is all but filled up, Fall should be great on the Delta with fish moving in to heavily feed & forage before Winter. That said, September is a very interesting crossover month where you can target all that the Delta has to offer. We can strip Clousers for Stripers & Largemouth looking for bait fish, we can throw large Topwater frogs & Topwater baitfish for Largemouth or we can fish light rods with sz 6 poppers & light jigs for eager Smallmouth. Frankly, we can do whatever you are into & just have fun chasing & catching fish. I have a few remaining openings this September if you want to jump on the boat & see all that the Delta has to offer, Book your trip soon!
