LOWER SACRAMENTO RIVER REPORT 2/7/25
530 Outfitters: Winter is flying by, and here at 530, we can hardly believe we’re already starting to think about the Lower Sacramento and what March will bring. While steelhead fishing is still in full swing, as I write this, many of our steelhead rivers are running high and muddy. That being said, we’re excited to see the Sacramento River get a nice boost today, hitting an impressive 25,000 cfs! Fishing the Sac at high flows is one of our favorite things—there’s something uniquely exciting about big rivers and opportunities that come with these conditions.
Even though March isn’t quite here yet, don’t count the Sac out—this river fishes really well at high flows, offering a different kind of experience that we always look forward to. With spring on the horizon, we’re anticipating those milder temperatures and the hungry trout that come with the season change. We’re gearing up for some great fishing days ahead, and as always, 530 is ready to make the most of it!

LOWER SACRAMENTO RIVER REPORT 11/12/24
530 Outfitters: The Lower Sac has been fishing really well with a little help from Mother Nature. Cloudy days and sunny, warm days both have their benefits. We've been fishing up and down the river, from town to Cottonwood, and each section seems to offer something different and fun. Indicators, dry-droppers, and dry fly fishing are all options most days.
Town is still producing some large rainbows on days when the bugs are active, and there are some really nice steelhead down low. One of the recent highlights was catching a 22" clipper on a dry-dropper rig in just 12 inches of water. Cast, set the hook, and chaos erupted! So good.

LOWER SACRAMENTO RIVER REPORT 8/27/24
530 Outfitters: The Lower Sacramento River rounds out our trip around the map and brings us to the river that everyone wants to fish. Fall tile on the Lower Sac is a special time of the year. Flows begin to drop from the summer water demands down south, cooler days activate the fall hatches and big trout move into shallow water and we know how to catch them. Give us a call to help you get connected to a few of these hawgs.
