Fishing Reports

I spent three days on the Lower Sac this past week chasing trout, and the fishing was good! Flows are holding around 6,000 CFS, and water clarity is excellent. Despite the warmer weather we’ve been experiencing, there are plenty of spawning salmon around, providing a solid early morning egg bite.

Fishing Conditions & Tactics

The best action came from early morning through midday, with 8mm and 10mm eggs in red, orange, and pink producing the most success for my boat. As the day warmed up, we switched to a single egg paired with two bugs on each rig. Productive patterns included small rubberlegs, caddis pupae, Weiss nymphs, and various hot-spot patterns.

River traffic has been heavy, as is typical for this time of year, but the fishing has made it worthwhile. With excellent water clarity and plenty of fish around, the Lower Sac is offering some good opportunities for anglers willing to work around the crowds.

Upcoming Availability

I’m currently booking trips for the fall and winter. My next available dates are November 10, 28, 29, and 30, with plenty of additional openings in December for trout and steelhead trips.

If you’d like to get out on the water, I’d be happy to help you plan a day of fishing!
