Jeff Ching Daily Shad Report
Run Total: 245
Another solo float in the mini. There were four other drift boats (2 were Ethan Hunt and Bill Quinn). The flows dropped to 2500 cfs and made swinging tough, but I stuck with swinging 20 ft of LC-13. It was steady all morning, but the bite shut down mid-afternoon. I solved my farming problem by going to smaller flies (sz 12 Cherry Bomb and sz 14 olive Rain Drop).
A guy wading walked out and fished below me. He was using a spinning rod but jigging his line like he was using a fly rod. I asked him how come he wasn’t fly fishing, and he told me that he just bought one, but the retrieve was set up for right-hand retrieve. I told him that he should use it and just hand-strip his fish in. His name was Daniel and he was a friend of Aron Filimon. He couldn’t really two-hand cast but ended up catching more than when he was using his spinning rod. He was swinging a Bloody Maria!
