Was on the American the other day for a quick float looking for early steelhead. Water temps are pretty decent for this time of year, so you want to get out early. Flows just dropped to a very fishable 2,500 so its worth a shot. Hooked a steelhead on a prince nymph and one swinging asculpin.
If you’re swinging throw olive, black, and tan sculpins with a caddis trailer. If you’re nymphing throw prince nymphs, tan and olive caddis and pheasant tails. Salmon are slowwwwly trickling in and the fall steelhead run should be hot on their tails!
