The Yuba has been great all summer! If you haven’t been out yet, you owe it to yourself to go out and tie into some of those fiesty bows. The hopper bite is winding down, but you might find a few takers on the Fat Albert still. There are some fish eating caddis emergers in the tailouts as well if you enjoy swinging soft hackles with a long taperes leader or clear 1.5 ips sink tip. Or try an EC caddis at dusk.
The swing has been producing some nice trout on olive, black and tan leeches too. Throw a floating or intermediate sink tip on an 11 foot 3 or 4 weight trout spey. Or try some single handed spey fishing which is a great way to swing the fly if you dont have a 2 hander.
The nymph bite is great early and late on black, blown and coffee stones, tan caddis, and small mayfly attractors. Fish the fast water and drops for these hungry bows. No salmon yet, but the egg bite is just around the corner!
