Low Flow Temperature: 53-60 f

The Feather has a few early fall run fish lying around and a ton of salmon in the Low Flow Channel and High Flow sections. Do your best to avoid hooking the kings if you fish the low flow, but its pretty inevitable that you’ll hook one or 2 in a day of fishing. Steelhead are around, but not in any good numbers yet. Some anglers are hooking a few fish under the indicator and euro set ups on prince nymphs, tan caddis and olive mays. Tough to swing in the low flow without hooking salmon already, but there are some spots you can swing with an intermediate or floating tip to stay above the king’s and get a grab or two on an olive leech with a caddis soft hackle trailer.

The high flow section is unruly at 8,000 cfs, but if you really want a king you can dredge a heavy sink tip with a black egg sucking leech or chartreuse and blue intruder for a unicorn fish on the fly! Find the drops, edges and easy water early in the morning. Don’t bring anything less than an 8 weight down there.
