Summer fishing has been going good but a bit on the slower side. From June 15-September 15 I turn my focus to Topwater Largemouth & Smallmouth bass excursions. These 5hr 1/2 day bass trips are a great way to get newer anglers into the sport as well as a blast for seasoned veterans who just want to have fun watching Largemouth & Smallmouth explode on a Fly! Smallmouth fishing has been picking up the last few weeks so I have been chasing both Smallmouth & Largemouth depending on the day. In addition, I have been running into eager Stripers chasing Threadfin shad in the shallows. Most of these Stripers have been juvenile 6-12” fish but an occasional 5-12 pound fish keeps the hunt interesting. These early Stripers are a great signal that Fall fishing is just around the corner & I am ready to roll! In the coming weeks I will turn my focus towards Stripers out West as they come in from the Bay. Looking forward to a great Fall hunting Stripers throughout the Delta! My Summer & Fall are all but booked, just a few remaining days in Dec. hunting Stripers to wrap up the 2025 Striper season.
