Fishing Reports

Spring has finally arrived. Fish are starting to look at Chironomids in various locations
throughout the lake. The Southern end, of the lake has been most consistent, with the
exception of the cold snap that came through last weekend. The Smallie bite has been good,
but is starting to slow, due to increased traffic from the bass tournaments. The lake is full so
we are fishing a deep indicator rig with Chironomids. Also, a type 3 full sinking line, with
Chironomids has been working well. As temperatures continue to increase fishing will become
increasingly productive leading us into Summer.
Speaking of summer, we have a full lake once again. Lake level is sitting at 4490.8ft. My guess
is that they will have to turn the pumps on soon to accommodate the melting snow coming
down the hill. This means we are looking at high water for the 3 rd straight year. While this
presents some challenges for the Hex Hatch, which is right around the corner, it is not all bad
news. For the last 2 years the morning bite has been great, with a lot of quality fish being
caught. I will remain optimistic that this year our Hex Hatch will turn on as soon as we get 3
nights in a row of 75°F. As many of you already know, inconsistent temperatures during the
hatch throw the Hexagenia off their game. Hope to see some of you up here with me this
season, Tight Lines!
